STUDENTS WEEK : A PROUD AT THE DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION
Welcome back to my page.
Students Week at Augustine University is a week-long program that is well anticipated by students because it takes place once a session and is packed with different events such as the praise night, bonfire, dinner night, student's seminar, hall night, games night, pageantry, treasure hunt, etc.
There were two major competitive event in the course of this student's week ;the treasure hunt and the pageantry, and both were won by 100 level students of the department of mass communication and media studies.
The treasure hunt was a three-day-long event where various teams of five representing different colours came out to compete in different games for the cash prize of two hundred thousand naira. After the last quest of the hunt, Mr. Joseph Ihuomah, a member of Team Black, emerged the winner of the competition.
During an interview with Mr. Ihuomah, he described the hunt as fun but tasking and that the first thing he did after winning was have a long sleep, "the excitement came later" he said. When asked his intention with the prize money, he said it would be shared with members of his team. He also stated that he was very proud when he learnt that the pageantry was also won by a student of the Mass communication department as it was a point to reinforce what he had always told his friends about the department being the best in the school.
The pageantry on the other hand was a two day long event that commenced with six contestants . Day one was dedicated to outings in both cooperate and traditional attire while day two was for both talent and dinner outings. At every outing, contestants were asked different questions ranking from current affairs to knowledge about the school.
Fifty thousand naira worth of prizes was promised to the winner and Miss. Nwabuzor Ndubunma Immaculata emerged as the winner and was announced the first "Miss AUI" and also "the face of Augustine university".
Miss Nwabuzor said that she was nervous but tried to enjoy herself as much as she could. She thanked God and all the people who cheered and supported her.
Although rumour has it that the winners were not giving the complete amount promsed to them, it was still a proud moment for the department of mass communication.
Yours sincerely,
Nwabuzor Ndubunma Immaculata,
First year student of Mass Communication.
